CLASSES AT MASS HOME FIREARMS TRAINING
NRA Home Firearms Safety
Course Goal - “To teach the basic knowledge & skills and explain the attitude necessary for safe handling and storage of guns in the home.”
This is a 6 hour class focusing on revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, shotguns and rifles. Actual shooting is not part of this class. Students will receive the NRA's "Home Firearm Safety" handbook and lessons in handling guns safely, identifying and loading/unloading different firearms. Students will also conduct practical exercises in safe gun handling, review various types of ammunition, how to maintain and store firearms. There is a short written test on the lesson material at the end of the class. After successful completion, students will receive an NRA Home Firearms Safety Certificate and the Mass State Police Basic Firearm Safety (BFS) Certificate. This class will qualify applicants for Massachusetts firearms licenses (LTC and FID card). To obtain your permit, you must be 21 years old or older and cannot have a criminal record. The Utah non-resident concealed firearm permit is the most widely accepted non-resident permit in the United States. If you travel for business or pleasure, now you can continue to maintain your personal safety in 36 states across the country. To obtain this permit, students must complete an approved course of instruction taught by a Utah state certified instructor.
This course is classroom lecture only. Utah does not require any live fire or range qualification to obtain their permit. This class follows the training outline mandated by the State of Utah, Bureau of Criminal Identification and covers:

Course Goal - “To teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and using a pistol safely.”
This is an eight-hour course focusing on revolvers and semi-automatic pistols intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This class will cover many subjects including:
We will then go to a range where each student will demonstrate firing qualifying "groups". After successful completion, students will receive a Mass State Police Basic Firearm Safety (BFS) Certificate. This course will qualify applicants for Massachusetts firearms licenses (LTC and FID card). To obtain your permit, you must be 21 years old or older and cannot have a criminal record. The course is usually taught on weekends and requires a minimum of two students.

- Identifying various types of pistols, pistol actions and how they function
- Ammunition types, firing sequence of a cartridge, and how to identify the correct ammunition for a firearm
- Cartridge malfunctions including: misfire, hang fire, and squib load
- Bench rest & standing shooting positions
- Pistol shooting fundamentals: aiming, hold control, breath control, trigger control & follow through
- Range layout & limits
- Factors in selecting a pistol
- Basic procedures for cleaning a gun
- MA Gun Law: possession / transporting / storage, assault weapons ban, approved weapons roster, private sales / acquisitions & transfers, use of deadly / lethal force, castle doctrine, cessation of threat, transferred intent and discharging a firearm
- Continued opportunities for skill development

Course Goal - “To develop NRA Certified Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
This is a 9 hour course that teaches the basic duties a Range Safety Officer (RSO) performs. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of an RSO including: range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), range inspection, range rules, range briefings, emergency procedures and how to clear common firearm stoppages and to correct common malfunctions.

SABRE's College Safety Program empowers students to make their personal safety a priority during their time on campus. This program teaches the same simplified safety techniques as the CSAP class, but with a major emphasis on college-specific social scenes, campus surroundings, and student lifestyles. It is specifically tailored to address student life on and off campus, especially freshmen students who are who are transitioning from living under parents supervision and are new to the college environment. Plus, each attendee can feel proud to pay it forward - a portion of each course fee benefits the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network.
Students will learn:
* How to discourage dangerous threats
* Ways to identify and avoid potentially dangerous situations
* Protection at a safe distance
* How to use our products effectively and responsibly
* Personal Safety best practices for at home and on the go
